I hope there is a good prize list for the mid week series last nights event cost me £34.00 to ride £1 entry and £33.00 for the tub that I punctured, at least I finished before it punctured. Really old tub on back, front tub only a month old, guess which one punctured!

Well not too many takers for the first week of the slow cake but I think next week might be a bumper ride with quite a few new takers…Don’t forget if you know anyone who you think would enjoy the teacake but are maybe a bit put off by the pace, let them know about the slowcake. It’s the usual meeting place and time.

    eh up rutland people!

came along on saturday for the slowcake, think we accidently went on the fastcake for a bit – before syphoning ourselves off. just wanted to say might try again next week – and thanks to the friendly guys who offered to go slow, but seemed a shame to spoil your ride when we were happy to divert.

damn i need to get some of those booty things

We actually had five riders out on the slow cake this week. Sadly we missed the meet time again but eventually we got going and it was a great ride. There will be another next week, 27/02/2010 so if there are any takers get yourself up to the meet (see rides section for details) for between 9 and 9:15 and we’ll get it organized. Cheers, Danny.

Don’t think JEJ have anything to worry about.
Had a quick look round the new shop, lots and lots and lots of space(very open plan)!!
Nothing really exciting, a bit like a posh Halfords without the car spares!

Seems to me that Edinburgh major on accessories (about 20 different types of pump), but very few components (choice of about 4 road handlebars, compared to James’ 30 odd…)

Well it was a cracking turn out this week…16 riders out…we literally hammered our way along the valley at warp factor ten and an enjoyable work out was had by all. Two weeks in and it seems hard to remember the dark nights already…I think next week if we have the same number of riders out we should definitely split off into two or three smaller groups…I’ll see what the consensus is up at the meet next week. Can’t wait for it Tuesday is rapidly becoming my favourite night of the week!!!

Fantastic to see so many out on the teacake, 44 was the last headcount I heard. Nice to see Dave doin’ his bit for Pinarello as well…..lol.
Just a pity the turnout wasn’t repeated the following morning, only 2 turned up on Sunday !!

Wonderful and thanks once again for waiting at Tideswell although this week I wasn’t actually last. Not bad photos for a sweaty phone Danny.

I’ve never ridden backwards through so many riders going up Cressbrook before, seemed to take ages and not at all demoralising as it feels great to have such a large bunch out riding.

I should add that although I’m last up Cressbrook you lot don’t often beat me to the front of the queue for tea!

44 – Definitely a record number since I’ve been going on it and let’s hope it continues.

Sunday, I’ve got other things to do at the weekend and the same probably goes for other people too. Went on the CTC ride with Liz today, no point turning up for the Rutland Sunday ride together as she’d get blasted in the first 10K. There were 21 pople on the CTC ride so overall that’s a great sign that cycling is on the up.

Look on the bright side Simon, that’s an average of 23 people on each ride… fabtastic.

I was willing to give them a try. Took my rear MTB wheel in as it was freewheeling in both directions and Butterworth on Abbeydale road didn’t have parts for a Halo. Initially very helpful, said they had a part in Leeds and would get it shipped down and fixed.. Part in Leeds was the wrong part so then they ordered one. Phoned up on Saturday to say they had ordered another but it was the wrong one. Gave up and collected it as they had had it for a month.
3 week wait at least at James so now it’s with the very helpful Si at 18 bikes in Hope.

They are all very friendly and up on the customer care but I’d rather have someone rude or indifferent who knows what they are talking about. They ought to model their bike shop staff on the Italian guy in
2 seconds of which I (or actually the Ms’s) now have a copy.

Lets not forget the slow cake. Numbers are going up on that too i have been on last two and it’s a great way to spin legs before race day and have a chat with new and old faces.
Can Sheffrec beat that number out on a ride?

Personally…I think it’s a load of old rubbish…if he had an electric motor on his bike you would have heard it when he engaged it shortly before attacking off the front.

The fact of the matter is that Cancellera won those races because he one of the greatest cyclists of his generation. End of story.

But it’s a great bit of marketing by the makers of the engine thingy !!!

Cheers Steve and thanks for the support, my break-away companions were most jealous of the rapturous support that I received around the course!!!

Luckily for me part of the prize was a comprehensive bike cleaning kit…How apt…I will be putting it to the test tomorrow night when I try and restore my steed to it’s pre-cow-shit shiny glory !!!

No problem just like riding on Sheffield’s roads every day!!

  33. June 24th, 2010 at 11:55 | #33

I think you will find that Team Sheffrec well & truly beat Rutland despite Niel Bentleys chain ring unbolting itself & him stopping to kick it back in place, plus missing his start! – I am only registered with BC to race for Boneshakers (also second claim to Sheffrec on BC license)
I think you will find that we beat you by 37secs – sour grapes??
Team Sheffrec CC or is that Boneshakers?

Does this open it up for any rider to ride for any team? will Lance jump ship and ride for Astana to take the team prize if Contador looks like he may win or even join Sky if Wiggo looks like he’s doing the business? Good ride from Neil though with all his problems. But I am afraid you can’t ride BC for one team and TT for another.Boneshakers is your first claim club and you should ride for them. Is Boneshakers affliated to the CTT? Come on own up before it gets to CTT central HQ!!!!! Sour grapes it is not fair play is what I call it. I would be the first to say good rides lads. As Neil and Dan did do for Sheffrec (there first claim club)

    August 6th, 2010 at 11:35 | #38

Well because the event is already listed in the handbook website etc as a 2/3/4 event you have to run two separate 2/3/4 events. Otherwise I believe you would have to resubmit the event due a change of category etc. So the field is split into two and then the run as two separate but identical in terms of distance and category events. You also have to split teams up so we can’t end up having a Rutland team of ten in one of the events sadly…Should be a good race….I’m looking forward to it !!! (but my opinion may well change after the 11 time up that climb !!)

Bloody tough league that, better racing though well done Jamie for the win. But come on Trophy to group A winner I know there are no easy races and anyone who says there are is telling pork pies or did not ride, but I am sure the group C winner is a more worthy winner of the trophy so the campaign starts here. Lobby the NMRRL commitee to change there minds. Only thing we might struggle with is Jamie ain’t from Rotherham!!!!
